Renovation: College Point, Queens, N.Y.
Retained to manage a NYSDEC
Voluntary Cleanup program for a site in the College Point
under a NYSDEC Voluntary Agreement.This work involved the
preparation of a Site Investigation Report (including soil and
groundwaqter), a Remediation Work Plan, cleanup of the site,
preparation of a Final Engineering Report, and a Site
Management Plan.
Incorporated Village of Bayville, N.Y.
The firm has been the environmental consultant to this North
Shore Long Island Village for the last nine years. ETG has
been involved in a wide range of engineering, waterfront
planning and environmental issues with Bayville during this
time. ETG prepared a Floodplain Management Plan, a Local
Waterfront Revitalization Plan, an Emergency Management Plan,
a Non-Point Pollution Control Study (on the adjacent Mill Neck
Creek), and designed and implemented a Recreational Trails
project (for a forever-wild area). ETG prepared grant
applications to various New York State agencies, which were
successful in obtaining funding for the above work. In
addition, ETG is the Consultant to the Village concerning the
Community Rating System (CRS), which resulted in reduction of
insurance rates to Village residents.
Environmental Compliance: University of Puerto Rico/ PREPA
(Puerto Rico Power Authority)
Retained as a team
member with the University of Puerto Rico as the Environmental
Review Contractor to monitor compliance and progress of a
USEPA/PREPA Consent Decree for 4 major electric generating
plants. The Decree required compliance with all air pollution,
wastewater, and hazardous waste regulations. This was a
five-year program, funded by a one million dollar PREPA
program.
Wastewater System: Branch Brook School District,
Smithtown, NY.
Retained to design and
supervise the construction of a new wastewater system to
replace a failed system.

Water Problems
Retained as consultant on problems that caused damage due to
flooding by storm water resulting from heavy rainfalls, as
well as sewage backups, for locations in Lake Success,
Atlantic Beach, Old Brookville, Great Neck, Hartsdale, and
Glen Cove, NY,
Multi-Hazardous Mitigation Plans
Prepared Floodplain
Management and Hazard Mitigation Plans for the Villages of
Manorhaven, Patchogue, Bayville, and Pelham, NY. These plans
include dealing with problems of flooding, power failures,
fires, hurricanes, winter storms, and other natural and
man-made hazards.
Groundwater Consulting: Rockaway Boulevard, Queens, NY.
Retained to review compliance
plans and conduct soil and groundwater investigations for a
Rockaway Boulevard site in Queens, NY (a former gas station),
with the aim of developing a remedial compliance program that
can be approved by the NYSDEC.
Fresh Kills and Richmond Landfills: Staten Island, N.Y.
Expert services for the NYC
Law Department concerning the Fresh Kills and Richmond
Landfills. ETG members have extensive experience with these
landfills and a broad understanding of the issues concerning
the impact of these facilities on the environment, on closure
and capping, and the fulfillment of environmental compliance
and permitting requirements.
Landfill
Closure: New York City Department of Sanitation
Expert
services in connection with the closure of the Fresh Kills
landfill facility in Staten Island, NY.
Groundwater Consulting: PPL Global L.L.C.
The firm served as the consultant on groundwater issues for
the Kings Park Energy site in Smithtown N.Y., and has
conducted studies to determine the impact of backup fuel oil
storage on deep groundwater aquifers for this part of Long
Island.
Environmental Compliance and Renovation: Shirley, NY.
Environmental compliance and renovation of a Long Island Home
Depot site. This work included the management of environmental
cleanup activities in preparation for the final development of
the site, and construction of store facilities.
Waste
Minimization: Pollution Prevention Studies: Slovakia.
Retained under a USAID sponsored grant to review waste
minimization/ pollution prevention options for three
industrial facilities in Slovakia.
Solid
Waste Management Project: Biskupija, Croatia.
Retained to conduct a solid waste management project
for a municipality in the Knin region of Croatia along the
Bosnian border. This USAID sponsored and funded project was
done in collaboration with a local engineering and planning
firm from Zagreb, and the municipal government in Biskupija.
Energy and
Water Savings: Food Processing Waste Management Studies: Egypt
Members of the firm were involved in a USAID sponsored project
to conserve water and energy in vegetable dehydration plants
in Cairo and Alexandria, as well as a follow-up study to
determine how Solar Energy could be used to save energy in
those facilities.
Training Program: Venezuela, South America
Carried out a training program on Advanced Wastewater
Treatment and Air Pollution Control for oil company engineers
in Maracaibo, Venezuela.
PCB
cleanup: Great Neck N.Y.
Retained to respond to a PCB transformer explosion in this
residential community.
Metuchen,
NJ Trash Train
The firm was retained to evaluate the environmental impact of
a New Jersey railroad linking a Linden NJ transfer station
with disposal sites outside of the state.
Westinghouse Corporation
Assisted in the preparation of a proposal by Westinghouse
Corporation to take over the entire management of the
Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, NY. This work
included the environmental cleanup contracting, which was a
major aspect of the management contract
